The decision earlier this month to postpone a 1GW solar tender scheduled for late January due to reported financing challenges affirms the view of a near-term slowdown in Turkey’s renewables expansion, Fitch Solutions Macro Research said in a note.

A 1GW onshore wind tender scheduled for March could face similar hurdles, the analyst said.

Fitch Solutions expects solar and wind additions to slow over this year and next, as a number of projects will face delays amid the country’s challenging economic environment.
