Lightsource BP, the global solar developer backed by oil and gas giant BP, has hired US solar veteran Kevin Smith as its chief executive for the Americas region, following several recent deals in the US market.
Smith was until recently chief executive of concentrated solar power specialist SolarReserve and before that a senior vice president at developer Invenergy.
Founded in London at the beginning of the decade and initially focused on the UK market, Lightsource quickly grew to become one of Europe’s most important solar developers, and now claims 2GW of capacity installed around the world.
