Brazilian renewable energy company Omega Geração acquired the 303MW Assuruá wind power complex and the first rights of offer to buy a 2GW project pipeline from local investment fund FIP IEER for R$1.9bn ($500m), further consolidating the country’s fast-growing renewable energy industry.

“Assuruá became fully operational in 2018, which allowed us to conclude the [M&A] transaction indicated at the time of our IPO in 2017 … these new assets have a high technical quality, which, together with the rights of first offer we acquired, bring a new and important source of growth for the coming years,” said Antonio Augusto Torres de Bastos Filho, chief executive at Omega Geração.
