El Paso Electric, a utility in Texas and New Mexico, has embraced solar, battery storage and natural gas for the next phase of its growth, as renewables and battery storage continue to blossom in the southwestern US.

An investor-owned utility with half a million customers, El Paso Electric today relies almost exclusively on nuclear and gas-fired plants for its power, along with a handful of relatively small solar PPAs it has signed in recent years.
