The European Union has wrapped up a political agreement on the final elements of its Clean Energy Package, the overarching regulatory framework designed to give the bloc a power system fit for the age of renewables.
The EU’s Commission and Parliament, and the European Council representing member states, agreed a deal over electricity market design, adding to previous accords on renewables – with its flagship target of a 32% share by 2030 – and energy efficiency.
