The European Parliament on Wednesday voted for 30% of the EU’s 2021-27 budget to be spent on climate action — up from the 20% figure proposed by the European Commission in May.

The long-term 2021-27 budget, known as the Multiannual Financial Framework (MFF) will need to be approved by both the European Parliament (EP) and member states, with all parties hoping it can be signed off ahead of European Parliament elections in May 2019.
