Danish pension group PKA agreed to buy 260MW of operating California PV in a $307m deal that marks the first direct investment in solar – and the US renewables market – by a stalwart backer of European offshore wind.

PKA will buy the 49% share of the Garland and Tranquillity plants currently owned by developer Recurrent Energy, a subsidiary of Canadian Solar, which brought them into service in 2016 underpinned by long-term PPAs with Southern California Edison.
