Italian energy group Enel has started construction of the 475MW São Gonçalo PV plant in Brazil’s Northeastern state of Piauí, confirming its strategy of selling power from one project in the regulated and non-regulated markets.

Enel Green Power Brazil will invest R$1.4bn ($390m) in São Gonçalo, which will be completed in 2020. Of the total capacity, 388MW was sold in the December 2017 A-4 tender, with 20-year, local currency denominated PPAs starting in January 2021.
