Last month, California passed its most ambitious renewables target yet. Senate Bill (SB) 100, recently signed into law by Governor Jerry Brown, sets a goal for the state to obtain 100% of its retail electricity from carbon-free sources by 2045.

The move further bolsters California as a global leader on greenhouse gas emissions reduction.

“SB 100 is among the most consequential energy policies adopted in the United States,” David Hochschild, a California energy commissioner, tells Recharge.
