In the manifesto of Jair Bolsonaro – the far-right Brazilian candidate who won the first round of general elections on Sunday – solar is mentioned once and wind power twice, while the Paris Agreement merits not a single word.

In a last-minute voting frenzy, former army captain Bolsonaro – famous for violent and prejudiced outbursts against minorities and for the defence of torture during the 21-year military rule in Brazil – won 46% of the votes, and is well placed to win the Brazilian presidency in the second round scheduled for 28 October.
