Fluence – the storage joint venture between Siemens and AES – has secured a second 60MW battery deal with UK Power Reserve (UKPR).

US-based Fluence claimed the full 120MW order from the British group represents the world’s largest deal for a contracted energy storage portfolio to date, and one of the largest battery systems in Europe.

UKPR has carved out a leading role in the UK reserve and flexible power market, thanks to success in bidding-in both battery and gas to successive capacity market auctions run by the country’s government.
