Argentina is likely to postpone the next tender round of its RenovAr renewable energy programme until 2019, after it concludes the contracting of some 2,000km of transmission lines, industry sources expect.

“It is unlikely that [the Argentine] government contracts new renewable capacity this year … this doesn’t mean a change in policy. The Energy Ministry wants to move forward with the transmission line tender, which is necessary for future tendering [under RenovAr] and the non-regulated market,” said Ramón Fiestas, chairman of the Latin American committee for the Global Wind Energy Council (GWEC).
