Italian energy giant Enel said “all time record” levels of renewables expansion fueled profits growth in the first half of 2018.

The group posted a net profit of €2bn ($2.33bn), 9.4% higher than the same stage in 2017, with earnings before interest, tax, depreciation and amortisation (Ebitda) 2.3% higher at €7.86bn.

Enel is engaged in a huge, global build programme that will see renewables account for half of its estimated 83GW of capacity by 2019.
