Construction of the UK’s largest battery storage project, a 50MW facility in southeast England, has been completed by BSR EPC for a subsidiary of German developer SMA Solar Technology.
The new 4,500 square metre ‘E-House’ design, which houses batteries and other equipment in custom-built prefabricated buildings, is built around 150,000 lithium-ion battery cells, 27 inverters, 12km of cable, all linked to a by a 132kV connection to a nearby 400kV substation.
