UK offshore wind capacity would reach 43GW by 2050 under one projection outlined by network operator National Grid.

The TSO’s latest annual Future Energy Scenarios (FES) report says the 43GW figure – up from 6GW now – is possible under its Community Renewables scenario, in which the UK moves to a heavily electrified and decarbonised energy economy, underpinned by renewables, storage and smart appliances, and with extra demand from electric vehicles.
