Brazilian renewable energy developer Renova Energia will draw up a new debt and asset restructuring plan after negotiations with Canadian asset management giant Brookfield came to an unsuccessful close on Thursday after seven months.
Renova Energia – once one of Brazil’s most aggressive renewables developers – carries a multi-billion-real debt from the financing of its portfolio, and has been selling assets, firing personnel and cancelling projects in order to balance the books.
