Indian developer Avaada Power signed a memorandum of understanding to develop 1.6GW of solar in the state of Uttar Pradesh at a cost of $1.55bn.

The MoU with the state government will allow Avaada to tap into the good solar resources available in India’s northern states, according to the company.
