Germany’s Sonnen will build a battery production plant in Australia to tap into what its local head said will be the world’s fastest-growing market for clean energy storage.
Sonnen will build the factory in South Australia, said state premier Jay Weatherill, who has already forged close ties with rival battery giant Tesla, and described the German company as “the world’s biggest producer of battery and solar energy storage systems”.
