French energy major Engie significantly increased its presence in storage and microgrids for renewables with the acquisition of a controlling stake in specialist technology provider Electro Power Systems (EPS).

Paris-based EPS is already a supplier of systems to major renewables developers worldwide, with customers ranging from Engie itself to Enel, Endesa, GE and EDF. Engie agreed to buy slightly more than 50% of EPS, which has about 90 staff in France and Italy.
