French utility Engie has announced plans to switch 100% of its natural-gas operations to biogas and green hydrogen by 2050.

The company — which was formed by a merger of French state-owned natural-gas operator Gaz de France and multinational utility Suez in 2008 — was also among European utilities pledging last week to make their electricity carbon-neutral “well before 2050”.
