The US is on track to add 295MW of energy storage capacity in 2017, a 28% increase on last year, in a market that continues to be driven by large utility-scale installations, according to new figures from GTM Research and the Energy Storage Association.

The US storage market’s growth looks set to gather even more steam in the years ahead as utilities – eager to add more variable renewables to their fuel mixes – build storage into their longer-term integrated resource plans.
