TransAlta Corp., the Canadian power giant, is pressing ahead with development work at its massive Brazeau pumped-storage hydroelectric project in Alberta, saying it could have 900MW of capacity in place as soon as 2025 to back up the province’s aggressive renewables rollout.
Brazeau would be by far the largest pumped-storage hydro plant in Canada, a country with few such facilities despite its immense fleet of hydroelectric stations.
