Chile contracted 2.2TWh of renewable power annually for delivery from 2024 at an average price of $32.5 per MWh after a competitive tender – a price 32% below the $47.6/MWh seen in last year’s auction.

“The target set by President [Michelle] Bachelet was to reduce power prices by 25%. Today we can announce with much…joy that we managed to reduce the price of power by 75% in the past three years,” said energy minister Andrés Rebolledo on Friday, when the results of the tender were announced.
