Making her last address to the power sector community at the annual Generadoras de Chile dinner in June, the country’s outgoing president, Michelle Bachelet, selected several projects she felt would be seen as a legacy for the South American nation in the global renewables market. Among them, she cited the country’s lithium mining and industrial development programme, which could position Chile as a supplier of 40% of the global lithium demand by 2035.
