A consortium of 17 major companies and research institutions plans to build up large-scale “gigawatt” lithium ion battery cell manufacturing at two yet-unknown locations in Germany that could rival Tesla’s gigawatt factory in the US state of Nevada.
Although not revealing its members, the group led by holding firm TerraE says it includes companies from throughout the supply chain, such as infrastructure manufacturing planners, material producers, machine engineering companies, cell manufacturers, and industrial consumers.
