A €46.8m ($51m) project targeting development of a marine energy resource that could power as many as three million European homes was launched today in the UK.

The Tidal Stream Industry Energiser Project, known as Tiger, aims to install a first 8MW of tidal power devices in the English Channel to make a “stronger, more cost-effective case for tidal stream to become part of the energy mix in the UK and France by harnessing economies of scale via volume manufacturing and multi-device deployments”.
