Germany needs to add 10-11GW of wind power each year – compared to just 3.8GW installed in 2018 – if it wants to reach its target of 65% renewables in the electricity mix by 2030, Maire-Luise Wollf, president of the energy and water industries federation (BDEW) said.

Wolff told the Süddeutsche Zeitung newspaper the government of Chancellor Angela Merkel currently is not a driving force in the country’s Energiewende – its transition from nuclear and fossil to renewable energies.
