Siemens Energy and Spain’s Dragados Offshore have won a €4bn ($4.3bn) order by transmission system operator Amprion to build two giant converter systems with a boosted capacity of 2GW each to transport North Sea wind energy to shore.

Amprion, which so far hasn’t connected any offshore wind farms to land, had won an order to provide the DolWin4 and BorWin4 grid links in Germany that will bring green electricity to four million people at the end of this decade.
