International offshore wind pacesetter RWE Renewables will put a novel, noise-reducing offshore wind foundation installation technology to a first real-life test at its in-development 342MW Kakasi project off Germany, as part of a wider project exploring the time-saving potential of ‘vibro-piling’.

The developer, which will work with itap and BioConsult SH along with the University of Stuttgart and Technische Universität Berlin, expects to have initial results from the installations at the wind farm, located off the island of Heligoland, in 2023.
