GE begins design work on 'up to 15MW' direct-drive turbine

GE’s technology development arm has begun designing a “next generation” direct-drive wind turbine of up to 15MW using superconducting magnets, claiming the project will reduce generation costs and industry dependence on rare-earth materials.
