Demand for offshore wind is rising all over the world. While its early days in the US, the market is gaining momentum and poised to grow exponentially in the years ahead, according to Gregory Lennon, the head of global offshore wind at ABS.
In March of 2021, the Biden Administration announced a goal to deploy 30 GW of offshore wind by 2030. Meeting this target, it said, will trigger more than USD 12 billion per year in capital investment and create tens of thousands of jobs.
Lennon surveyed the current landscape in a recent video interview with Recharge Content Studio.
The industry veteran also discussed the opportunities, and obstacles, associated with the goal of 30 GW by 2030.
Lennon went on to explain how offshore wind fits within the broader energy transition and pursuit of global decarbonization goals.
Lennon closed by outlining the role that ABS is poised to play in the advancement of offshore wind globally.
