The electric utility will design, finance, construct, own and operate the projects at Forts Benning, Gordon and Stewart. It will also lease land from the Army to site them.

The projects will be brought online at or below Georgia Power’s avoided cost - the amount projected it would cost the utility to generate comparable energy from other sources. 

The Army says it will obtain 18% of its electricity in Georgia from onsite renewable energy when the plants enter operation.

The
