US solar exports jump to $1.9bn in 2010, led by polysilicon

The surprising figure stems from America’s large volume of polysilicon exports – totalling $2.5bn last year, about $100m more than the value of panels imported to the US – and PV capital equipment, according to the US Solar Energy Trade Assessment, prepared by GTM Research for the Solar Energy Industries Association. In 2009, net exports were $723m with polysilicon accounting for $1.1bn.
