DOI says its activities during the fiscal year (1 October 2013 through 30 September 2014) involving solar and wind made a total economic contribution of almost $1bn and supported about 5,200 domestic jobs.
It approved 768MW of new solar generation capacity on public lands in FY 2014 but none for wind. Most of the solar leases have been in California and Nevada.
