The Nellis Solar Array II will be located in the southwest quadrant of the base outside Las Vegas. NV Energy, part of billionaire Warren Buffett’s Berkshire Hathaway conglomerate, is investing $50m in the project.
The project when coupled with an existing 13.2MW (dc) array will produce enough power to fully meet the base’s needs during daylight hours. The facilities combined will be the US Defense Department’s largest utility-scale PV system.
