The Department of Energy (DOE) will provide $20m in funding to advance perovskite solar photovoltaic technologies that officials there believe have promise to help the US reach the “next level of innovative and efficient solar power.”
Perovskites are a family of materials with a specific crystal structure that are very good at absorbing the sun’s visible and infra-red light and have shown potential for high performance and low production costs.
