The funding includes $45m to help researchers quickly bring innovative solar manufacturing technologies to market. The remaining $14m or so is to support 15 new projects to help communities develop multi-year deployment plans to install solar electricity in homes, businesses, and communities.
DOE Secretary Ernest Moniz notes that the US is now bringing more solar power online every three weeks as it did in all of 2008.
