Australia’s Infigen will build the infrastructure and transmission lines at the A$300m ($296.7m) project, which will be spread across three sites in NSW, including the central town of Nyngan. China’s Suntech will supply the modules.

The approval marks “an important milestone” for the consortium and the project, says David Griffin, Infigen’s general manager for development.

Infigen says the project’s future is contingent on several factors, including it being successful in its Solar Flagships bid and it winning additional funds from the NSW government.
