Housing and Planning Minister John Healey says the proposal, which along with a new feed-in tariff for small-scale renewables installations set to come into effect in April 2010, will cut the expense and red tape associated with obtaining planning permission.
Beginning in 2010 the newly created Infrastructure Planning Commission will fast-track the approval of large-scale renewables projects across the UK. Such projects often face severe delays due to local objections.
