Since launching the FIT earlier this year, the UK has added about 25MW of capacity at 10,000 mostly residential rooftop installations – roughly equivalent to the entire capacity in place before the subsidy was put in place.
Thanks to the FIT, the UK has rapidly become one of the most promising markets in the EU, as the top four existing markets – Germany, the Czech Republic, Italy and France – have all recently cut their own subsidy schemes, or plan to do so at the beginning of next year.
