Neither company made financial terms public for the transaction with DE Shaw Renewable Investments. DESRI is majority owner of Deepwater Wind, developer of the 30MW Block Island project in Rhode Island waters, the first US offshore wind facility.
Tri-State, a wholesale power supplier owned by 44 member electric cooperatives and public power districts, expects the facility to enter commercial operation in December 2016.
