The company’s 30MW solar module assembly plant in Arizona was built in response to state and federal policy that, while not perfect, is “very indicative” of the long-term direction of the market, says Suntech chief commercial officer Andrew Beebe.

The company is riding state renewable portfolio standards in the US and is forecasting significant market growth next year “and possibly our own growth doubling within this country,” Beebe told the Renewable Energy Finance Forum in San Francisco last week.

Suntech America president Steven Chan says the company expects the US market to exceed 1GW in 2010.

At
