After a prolonged selection process last year, Suntech selected Arizona in November from among a handful of states vying for the plant. The company picked Goodyear, on the western outskirts of the greater Phoenix area, on Wednesday.

According to Suntech the photovoltaic module assembly plant will initially employ at least 70 local residents and have production capacity of 30 megawatts (MW), with the possibility to expand to 120MW.
