NRG says it will invest up to $450m of project equity in the next four years, with the amount depending on the final project cost and financing terms. A Department of Energy (DOE) loan guarantee is being sought.
The deal comes a month after NRG Solar announced a $300m investment in BrightSource Energy’s 392MW Ivanpah solar thermal project and marks a continued push into renewables for the New Jersey-based generation company.
