The deal is the largest on a utility scale for SunEdison in Texas. It also is one of the largest solar transactions in the Electric Reliability Council of Texas (ERCOT), which manages the flow of wholesale power to about 85% of the state’s electric load.
The developer plans an interconnection for the plants in 2016. It has signed a 25-year power purchase agreement with Georgetown Utility Systems that will provide more than 9,500 GWh of clean energy through 2041.
