Last month SunEdison, owned by US wafer giant MEMC, sold the Rovigo plant to private-equity firm First Reserve for €276m ($372.7m), marking one of the largest such transactions in the PV sector’s history.
The Rovigo facility has vaulted past a 60MW array in Olmedilla, Spain to become the largest PV installation in Europe, and trails only Enbridge’s 80MW installation in Ontario around the world.
