Southern Power adds Henrietta project to California portfolio

Fast-growing US solar energy player Southern Power has acquired a controlling interest in the 102MW Henrietta PV project in south-central California from SunPower - its first joint venture with the developer.

Neither company made terms of the transaction public. Southern Power now owns all or part of 11 PV facilities in the state.

These include three PV projects in partnership with Recurrent Energy – Tranquility, 204MW, California; Garland, 200MW, California; and Roserock, 157MW, Texas. All three are due to reach commercial operation in the fourth quarter.

Southern Power is also co-owner of the 300MW Desert Stateline PV facility under construction in California with First Solar.
