Sonoma, based in Santa Rosa, California, did not release financial terms of the transaction.
The alternative energy provider to about 22,000 residential customers in Sonoma County now has 70MW of solar energy under long-term contract with Recurrent. The contract and another for geothermal energy will allow it to expand its customer base to 70,000.
Sonoma says its long-term contracted renewable energy sources now exceed California’s 33% mandate that utilities must meet by 2020.
