Toyota Motor has unveiled a new version of its Prius plug-in hybrid car with a rooftop solar panel to recharge the vehicle’s batteries. The Japanese automaker claims that the PV cells, which can charge the car when not in use, will increase fuel efficiency by up to 10%. The solar variant will initially be sold in Japan, where it will be called the Prius PHV, as well as the European market.
