Researcher iSuppli has dramatically revised its forecast for global photovoltaic installations in 2010, jumpint its February forecast of 8.3 gigawatts (GW) to 13.6GW. The latter figure would represent a stunning 93% jump over 2009.
The sharp reversal of fortune – enough to give any onlooker whiplash – will be catalysed by strongly renewed interest in solar installations amongst German consumers, thanks to plunging panel prices and the looming reduction in the country’s solar feed-in tariff (FITs).
